An homage to Coho salmon.
Late last night I was sitting at my computer and heard someone get up and go the bathroom. Nothing unusual, someone’s always doing that. Mia came downstairs and I decided it was time to go to bed. I went upstairs and noticed a trail of drops in the hall at the top of the stairs. I figured it was Ethan sleepwalking again and that he hadn’t made it to the bathroom. It’s been a long time, but he has used other things for a toilet when he was sleepwalking like the garbage can next to the toilet and his lego table. I assumed I could follow the trail back to Ethan’s bed and on to the bathroom. That didn’t happen. Upon further investigation it went into Caleb’s room, around the corner and up to Mia’s cat bed. I turned on the light and found a puddle of pee in the cat bed. I smiled and started cleaning it up. The lights woke up Ethan and he came out into the hall and I told him what happened. He started laughing and just then Mia came upstairs. He started petting her and then said, “Why is Mia all wet?” MIA WAS IN HER BED WHEN ETHAN WAS PEEING IN IT!!!!! A fit of uncontrollable laughter came over me and I could hardly breathe. I went into the bedroom to tell Jason what had happened and he couldn’t understand a word I was saying. Ethan had to tell him what I was trying to say. Poor Mia! I am going to have to hang a sign above her bed that says, “I don’t sleep in your toilet, please don’t pee in my bed!”
I have been really looking forward to cutting down our own Christmas tree this year at a tree farm after several years of having an artificial tree. We've had had a couple of wonderfully sunny days, so today was the day. It seems you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a farm of some sort around here (or an espresso hut), so we didn't have to drive long to the farm. We happened upon Karen's Christmas Corner and met a nice couple running the farm. We wandered around the trees for a while until we spotted a good Fraser fir. It didn't take Jason long to "murder" the tree (as he calls it) and haul it off.
If you're wondering, no, Ethan doesn't wear pants when he's at home. Some things never change.

When we got back we stuffed ourselves. 
It has been a relaxing holiday and we have so much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving!
After the farmers market we went to the Portland aerial tram. We provided some extra entertainment as Jason tried to navigate us there as I didn't listen to him with Ethan laughing at us from the back seat. We managed to get to the terminal (thanks to me) after a while. The aerial tram connects the light rail to OHSU (Oregon Health and Sciences University). It provides an awesome view of the city and it's just fun riding a tram.
We were able to display some of the things he had made and some pictures from throughout his life at the visitation and funeral. My sister-in-law Melissa made a great photo album showcasing all of his attributes.
It was so wonderful to have all of Jason's siblings together. It was such a busy week, but we loved spending all the time we could with them. The boys especially loved playing with their cousins.
Spending the week in Utah made me realize how wonderful our friends and family are. They offered so much love and support. Thank you!
The Friday before Halloween we had our own pumpkin carving party. Hiram was at a football game, so he didn't get a chance to make a jack-o-lantern, but the rest of us came up with some pretty good designs.
